This is another strange week, considering the holiday on Monday, and the 1/2 day on Saturday -- PLUS, we might have snow Wednesday...
My general plan is as follows: In READING, we'll wrap up our unit in which we examine how character react to events in a story; I plan to give our main test on this unit. For SPELLING, we will look at Unit 19 from last week, and take our Spelling test. WRITING is more poetry; specifically we'll talk about Haikus and Cinquain poems, among others. For MATH, we'll also finish a unit -- Money. I plan to give the common assessment later in the week. Finally, in SOCIAL STUDIES, we keep on keeping on with Economics and Personal Finance. NOTE: All this could change, should we get another round of snow. WELCOME TO QUARTER 3!
This week in READING, we review several concepts, including text features and asking and answering questions -- all while I work to complete the mid-year Reading Evaluations (MClass). For LETTERLAND, we look at "ea" words like bread and thread. WRITING is all about poetry: we remind ourselves of the fundamental elements of poetry like rhyme and stanzas, then begin to craft some poems of our own. Math will be about MONEY: understand coin values, and how to count up values, and make change. SOCIAL STUDIES will be about Economics, including business, global and personal. |
