Week Three -- track-out week -- is here.
For WRITING, we will finish our first small-moment narratives. In READING, we continue examining ways to ask and answer questions about the texts we read. For SPELLING, we move on to Unit 3 (see Spelling link, above). MATH adds more exploration of different strategies to add and subtract, including math mountains and number lines. Finally, in our SOCIAL STUDIES unit, we keep on with Civics and Governance. Hi Families,
Week Two continues much of the learning of what we started last week. I will also be administering the first round of the MClass reading evaluations to each student. For WRITING, we continue our short narratives. We call them "small moments" as we select a specific moment from a larger event and write just about that. In READING, we keep learning ways to ask and answer questions about the texts we read. For SPELLING, we move on to Unit 2 (see Spelling, above). MATH will continue our exploration of different strategies to add and subtract. Finally, in our SOCIAL STUDIES unit, we explore Civics and Governance. Hi Families,
I'm excited for the new year! In this spot, you'll find each week a general overview of what we'll be learning each week. Our first week, of course, will have it's share of introductions, getting used to routines and other "housekeeping" duties, but we WILL do some learning, too: For WRITING, we'll begin this week talking about - and writing - short narratives, focusing on adding details to enrich our stories. In READING, we'll begin to discuss the importance of asking and answering questions about the texts we read. For SPELLING, we'll start in on Letterland Unit 1 (see Spelling, above). MATH will find us exploring different strategies to add and subtract. Finally, in our SOCIAL STUDIES unit, we explore Civics and Governance. |
