We've only got four days of school this week, but still will be plenty busy!
For WRITING, most students are wrapping up their persuasive writing papers, with some already working on other similar papers. Next week we start a new writing unit... READING this week: we complete our discussion of poetry and its elements, and take a few days to discuss using Context Clues to help us understand what we are reading. SPELLING is Unit 39, "ea" words and similar vowel pairs. MATH is more measurement, and SCIENCE is a continued look at life cycles, and of course, our caterpillars! This week in WRITING find us back writing dramatic narrative stories. In READING we also return to a previous subject: poetry. We'll not only write poems, but we'll be studying their content and messages as well. Our LETTERLAND SPELLING unit is Unit 23: "oor", "our" and "ore" words. In MATH, we continue on with measurement, learning the proper way to measure, using both non-standard and standard measuring tools. We begin our final section of SCIENCE this year, with a focus on animal life cycles; this will include watching live butterflies go from larval to adult stage.
