This is our final week before we track out. Lots to do and learn.
For WRITING, we continue our scientific writing activities. In READING, we do more comparing and contrasting of non-fiction texts on the same topic. Our SPELLING unit finds us learning some 2- and 3-syllable words that all have the "magic e" syllable (silent e). For MATH, we begin learning various strategies to add and subtract 2-digit numbers. In SCIENCE, we continue our exploration of Sound. Wow, quarter two already! This quarter always seems to go quickly, so we'll be working our hardest everyday. Plus, we welcome Ms. Murphy aboard to help us stay on task and learn!
This week in WRITING (W2.3), we begin examining the scientific method, to go with our new Science unit. For READING (RI2.4), we will concentrate mostly on Context Clues, and how we can use clues from the text to help us understand difficult words and concepts. Our Letterland/Spelling unit is #5 -- magic e words like "smile" and "brake." MATH (2.NBT.1), continues our discussions of place value. Finally, in SCIENCE we begin our new unit, Sounds! This is always a favorite each year: a chance to make lots of noise on purpose! |
